Rab na mandar rab na masjid rab na jangal bele vich;
Rab na milda kalian beh ken a rab milda mele vich. Na rab milda bhukhyan nangyan na hai paise dhele vich; Katha keertan paath te pooja rab nahin is jhamele vich. Rab mildai gur sharnin aayan satgur parda khole jaan; Kahe avtar eh gursikh bujjhe satgur muhon bole jaan. |

God is not to be found in temples, mosques or in the dense forests;
God is not to be found by sitting in isolation or in big crowds. God is not to be found in extreme austerity (remaining hungry and naked), or in money; God is not to be found in the futile exercise of mere discourses, devotional songs, recitation of holy scriptures, and worship of deities; Avtar says, the disciple does understand God as soon as the True Master speaks to him. |
Meaning
God cannot be known by just singing his praises through songs, only the True Master can reveal Him. God is not to be found in temples, mosques or in the dense forests. God is not to be found by sitting alone or in big crowds. God is not to be found in extreme austerity (remaining hungry and naked), or in money. God is not to be found in the useless exercise of mere discourses, devotional songs, recitation of holy scriptures, and worship of deities. Here Baba Avtar Singh ji says, the disciple does understand God as soon as the True Master speaks to him.
